Our client, a leading shipping and exports company are looking for a retail sales manager who will take ownership of the key retail accounts as well as being responsible for leading a sales team and ensure that we deliver the best service to the retailers across the three islands, Mahe, Praslin and La Digue.
It is important that the candidate has had previous experience in selling fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) into the retail industry. The candidate needs to be able to drive sales and continuously look at new and different ways to improve our service to the end consumer. The candidate must have previous experience in dealing with key accounts and managing a team of sales representatives.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
The retail sales manager would be responsible for the following:
• Sales of Dry, Fresh and Frozen produce into the retail market
• Management of Sales Representatives
• High level strategy development
• Market research
• Stock re-ordering
Sales rep management includes:
• Spending enough time in the market with the reps
• Training the sales team to sell better
• Empowering the sales team
• Manage sales reps to meet individual targets
• Manage call/visit sheets

High level strategy development includes:
• Product promotions
• Bulk discounts
• Working with sub distributors to presell containers
Market Research includes:
• Ability to conduct concise and clear market research
• An inherent ability to read the market and understand the market demands
• Ability to understand pricing to determine a selling price to a client
Stock re-ordering includes:
• Getting directly involved in the replacement of stock
• Advise procurement of market related information that will determine ordering patterns
REQUIREMENTS
• An excellent track record of selling FMCG products into the retail industry
• 10 years’ experience working with FMCG products
• An understanding of produce with shelf lives
• Produce knowledge of dry, chilled and frozen produce
• Experience in living and working outside of their home country
• Experience in working with sales teams and managing those teams successfully
• Experience in growing business and developing markets

REMUNERATION
• The position will pay a market related salary dependent on experience. The company will also provide a car, laptop and cell phone contract.
• Accommodation will be the responsibility of the candidate however the first month’s rental will be covered by the company.
• Two annual return tickets to the original country of residence are also included in the package.
