A Cape Town based NGO is seeking a dynamic, energetic and passionate person to provide Academic Support.


  • Being able to assess academic needs, identify gaps and work out an individual academic support plan and intervention plan
  • Working closely with the Programmes team and providing support to them
  • Build excellent relationships with our schools working alongside the SBST (Student based support team) to provide academic support to the scholars (School visitations)
  • Coordinate group and individual tutoring sessions (Planning, attendance, and evaluation)
  • Tutor training, screening, and assessing the quality of education provided
  • Monitoring and evaluation of tutoring received and academic performance
  • Provide tutoring to scholars (Individual and group)
  • Working on Saturdays (when tutoring takes place) will be compulsory
  • Assisting with recruitment – assist with awareness to the schools and support with application process
  • Assisting with scholar finances and logging and managing of all scholar costs
  • Ideal candidate to have experience in identifying scholar needs (contacting each subjects teacher, getting the scholars exam papers perhaps, their class work and identifying specific gaps per scholar and then focusing on that during tutoring)
  • Ordering of stationery, textbooks & managing scholar transport


  • Teaching degree (4 years) or a degree with PGCE
  • Minimum of 4 years teaching experience (Preferably Mathematics and Sciences, Accountancy strong for Grade 8 -12)
  • SACE registration
  • Have knowledge of IBE and CAPS curriculum
  • Experience in remedial support would be a plus.
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal Skills with colleagues, students, and parents
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, assertive, and work well under pressure
  • Must be a team player and providing feedback
  • Being able to teach online classes (Maths and Sciences)
  • Driver’s license
