SPECIFICATION

A leading UK technology and managed services provider is looking for a Technical Lead - Digital Networks to provide technical guidance to the teams and to management on best practices and to lead technical teams in projects and escalations.

 

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:

·         Natural leadership skills with a positive attitude and the ability to self-motivate.

·         Be team oriented, as our environment requires constant knowledge transfer and mentoring.

·         The ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written.

·         The ability to to communicate technical issues to non- technical shareholders in a very professional manner.

·         Fluency in English is a must. German is desirable.

·         Ability to adapt to change.

·         Embrace new challenges well.

·         Dependability - complete tasks on time, call out issues in a timely manner, take ownership of tasks and provide feedback regularly without having to be micro managed.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the following regarding his/her technical ability:

  • Provide technical guidance and advice on problem resolution approach.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge based on more complex issues across a wide range of technologies.
  • Routers (Cisco IOS & IOS XE);
  • Switches (Cisco IOS, Cisco Nexus NX-OS, Dell MXL);
  • Firewalls (Cisco ASA/Firepower, Checkpoint, Juniper SRX);
  • Load Balancers (F5 LTM, Citrix ADC, Cisco ACE);
  • Wireless (Cisco AP);
  • Fabric Interconnect (UCS 6248UP);
  • Management Systems (SolarWinds, BNA, Entuity, Cisco WLC, Citrix ADM);
  • Technologies – VXLAN, VPC, VSS, FCoE/FC.
  • Applications: DNS, DHCP, LDAP, SSL Certificates.
  • Basic Linux and Windows CLI commands and the ability to run and analysis of packet captures.
  • Keep up to date by attending training for new technologies. Maintain existing certifications.

 

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate commercial awareness by:

  • Being aware of how day to day tasks effects profitability.
  • Optimize team for creating additional capacity for time & material work and new business and technologies.
  • Play a lead role in due diligence and transitioning of new services and customers into support.
  • Provide quotes for ad hoc and T&M (time & material) work.
  • Review proposals and designs with a focus on operational supportability to feed into requirements definitions and costing discussions.

  • Work closely with existing technical analysts, consultants and management.
  • Lead or represent the team in customer group discussions.

  • Mentor team members to assist them in reaching their potential and aid with the rapid growth of the team.

The ideal candidate will have operational responsibilities that consists of the following:

  • Work with a large team of engineers, sharing knowledge and information, giving instruction, guidance, progressing project work in accordance with company standards and processes.
  • Proactively identify process and team areas that require improvement and facilitate resolution.
  • Ensure that documentation is relevant to effective resolution of problems.
  • Encourage and oversee team focus on process improvement.
  • Provide balanced technical and commercial input to develop effective solutions.
  • Lead and coordinates major projects and escalations.
  • Advise Management during escalations, create and implement post incident action plans and write summaries for customer management.
  • Delegate tasks when required according to defined roles and responsibilities.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Essential Knowledge/Skills

  • Experience: 10+ years at professional level.
  • Thorough understanding of Switching, Routing, VPN, Security/Firewall, Load Balancing and IP Subnetting.

 

Essential Qualifications

  • Professional level certifications:
    • CCNP Routing and Switching
    • Cisco Certified Specialist - Enterprise Core (CCS-ECore)
    • Cisco Certified Specialist - Security Core (CCS-Score)
    • CCNP Enterprise (CCNP-Enterprise)
    • Cisco SD-WAN Solutions
    • Cisco Certified Specialist ‑ Data Center Core

 

Desirable Knowledge/Skills

  • 5-10 years experience of enterprise Datacentre environments
  • Load Balancing especially on Citrix ADC and F5 LTM
  • Wireless especially Cisco WLC.
  • Management platforms especially Cisco ACS

 

Desirable Qualifications

  • CCIE (R&S) / CCIE (Data Centre)
