A company based in Bellville is seeking to employ a Data Engineer to use technical skills to put software, systems and data together in a way that extracts meaningful insights from raw data. You will need to be helpful and supportive to your team and fellow developers. You join an energetic, focused and dynamic team.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES, NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Accountable to product team
  • Participates actively in the product team
  • Take on new tasks
  • Responsible for understanding client requirements
  • Analyse specs
  • Analyse data
  • Design data warehouse layers
  • Design product layers
  • Estimate tasks accurately
  • Make and meet commitments
  • Develop and test pipelines into raw data lake
  • Develop and test data warehouse layers
  • Develop and test product layers
  • Ensure that peer reviews are done for deliverable
  • Comply with each step of the SDLC process
  • Follow all necessary documentation
  • Responsible for technical documentation
  • Responsible for GCP Costs for IT
  • Provides timely status updates to the team
  • Cross-train and mentor other team members
  • Responsible for delivery of value and quality solutions
  • Responsible to drive ticket progress
  • Log change requests
  • Log time accurately
  • Doing standby on a rotating basis.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric
  • Tertiary qualification in IT
  • Preferred cloud experience in AWS/AZURE/GCP
  • At least 3 years of data warehouse ETL experience
  • Dimensional Modelling
  • Data analyses
  • Experience with data visualization and visualization tool(s)
  • Knowledge of the retail industry will be beneficial
  • Understanding and experience with version control SVN/GIT
  • Preferred - Korn shell scripting, Python/Java, SQL
  • Google Cloud Platform experience would be looked upon favourably
  • Having a broad understanding of different SDLC’s
  • Preferred agile experience
