An energy company in Cape Town is looking for an SAP Functional Consultant SDM to work under the SAP Functional Consultant Team Lead to ensure the support of specific SAP modules through delivery of expert consulting services and solutions, working across all OUs and all business areas, but specifically in Secondary Distribution Management. This role uses consulting skills, business knowledge, and SAP solution expertise to effectively integrate SAP technology into the business environment.
This role focuses on support of the Distribution Management, Dispatching and Transport planning in SAP.

• Responsible primarily for supporting and enhancing SAP SDM processes, providing functional expertise and guidance to business users.
• Extensive functional and solution experience with the ability to facilitate, implement, and support SAP products to enhance business functionality and overall performance, while maintaining a high degree of customer satisfaction.
• Help stakeholders understand how Secondary Distribution Management fits into their operations and what functionality should be leveraged to meet their business requirements.
• Analyze the current business processes and scenarios and recommend/develop solutions to meet the business needs.
• Provide stakeholders with key insight and direction related to industry trends, best practices, and world-class solutions.
• Serves as a key application expert in the Secondary Distribution Management area.
• Investigate, analyze, and solve software problems and map business requirements, processes and objectives; develop necessary product modifications to satisfy business needs.
• Design, configuration and testing in SAP SDM Modules.
• Take leadership role in engaging with various stakeholders – portray a trusted-advisory role for SAP solutions and processes
• Facilitate communications between businesses to ensure desired business outcomes are met.
• Engage with high-level stakeholders in understanding business requirements, current solution landscape and propose new solutions and applications that provide enhanced value from customer perspective
• Support the business with the conception and implementation of optimized processes
• Support the implementation of new SAP products in the organisation and ensure knowledge transfer to users
• Degree in information technology or relevant qualification
• Minimum 8-10 years of work experience in SAP, with particular experience in Secondary Distribution Management.
• Strong functional knowledge, understanding and experience of Logistics, Sales and Distribution and Materials Management.
• Deep understanding of SAP Sales and Distribution and Materials Management business processes.
• Experience with multiple full cycle SAP implementations, including end to end S4 HANA experience.
• Experience within the Oil and Gas Industry is advantageous.
• Experience in configuration, performing customization and writing Functional Specifications.
• Experience in the design, development, testing and implementation, preferably over multiple SAP and non-SAP technologies, geographic locations, size and scale of projects.
• Experience and knowledge of key integration points between SAP sub modules like SD, MM and FICO
• Knowledge and experience of Integrated Dispatch Management (IDM) is an advantage (application that supports and automates dispatching).
• Experience in SAP Solution Manager
• Experience in ticketing tool such as HPALM
• Stays informed of the SAP roadmap, solutions, service offerings and market trends.
• Must be able to work independently as well as a team player and can manage own workload
• Ability to scope requirements and develop detailed project plans to meet business requirements.
• Know-how of project and consulting business practices
• Extensive experience of business processes and systems
• Perform detailed analysis of complex business process requirements and provide appropriate system solutions; identify, interpret, validate and document customer requirements
• Ability to analyze problems and provide clear recommendations
• Ability to resolve complex issues.
• Strong organizational skills and able to collaborate with the business.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Experience in working with global teams across geographies.
• Experience in influencing key stakeholders and confidence in dealing with stakeholders

• SAP IS Oil Downstream
• Knowledge of the S4 HANA simplification list and key S4 HANA transformations in SAP Order-to Cash area.
• Knowledge about SAP FI - CA and SAP Convergent Invoicing
• Knowledge of the latest SAP UI/UX technology and concepts - SAP Fiori, UI5
